THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA FOR ISLAMIC INSTRUCTOR IN PONTIANAK

Abstract
Formulation of problem in this study is what are social media platforms used for, what are the motivations for use of social media and what are the benefit use social media for Islamic instructors in Pontianak. Methodology in this study uses qualitative research with ethnographic method. The results of this study showed that social media platforms are used for a long time because technology awareness received through the lecture process; to follow communication technology trendsand to improve work performance. Limited information, limited time to search literature, educational background and entertainment needs become motivation for Islamic instructors to use social media. The benefits to use social media for Islamic instructors are media promotion, to build interpersonal relationships and communication with worshipers, media discussion, mentoring, advice and suggestions.
