Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of learning innovations and to know the importance of implementing a learning innovation for children with special needs during the Covid-19 period in order to develop learning innovations that are effectively applied in the future. With the Covid-19 virus, currently learning for children with special needs is carried out in a very different way, namely online learning (in the network). Researchers use qualitative research methods to describe the things studied. Researchers collect data by interviewing one homeroom teacher to the five teachers who teach there. The results of the study show that learning innovations are very much needed in order to continue to carry out learning well during Covid-19. Online learning makes it difficult for children with special needs to understand the material so that teachers need new innovations in learning so that learning is not monotonous and easily accepted by children with special needs. The innovations made by the teachers are: carrying out home visits, conducting online learning using applications, creating content in the form of learning material videos and skills videos as well as packaging learning in the form of games that aim to make students not easily bored while studying. For the evaluation system in the form of assigning teachers to apply the offline method (outside the network), namely by taking assignments to school every week. Obstacles in developing these innovations are the limited ability of ABK in using gadgets, moods children's very sensitiveand networks that are not always good. Based on the results of interviews, the adaptation process with online learning takes a long time, which is about six months or one semester. With these innovations, it is quite helpful in achieving learning goals during the Covid-19 period.
